The Hcg Diet: How Parents Can Teach Their Kids About Healthy Eating

Parents who are responsible for preparing meals for their children might hesitate when considering starting the HCG diet because they think it will create extra hassle to prepare separate meals. But parents should seize the opportunity to start exposing their children to healthier meal choices and maybe even to learning how to cook and prepare them.

Childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing in the U.S. right along with adult obesity rates. With children spending the majority of their waking hours in school, in front of a TV screen, or in front of a computer screen playing video games. That does not leave much time or opportunity for them to run and play outside. Children have become almost completely sedentary, which can lead to laziness and weight gain.  Kids who are overweight are more likely to grow into obese adults.

]]>

However, parents have the opportunity to set an example and change the course of their children’s lives. If a parent is a bit overweight and they want to try the HCG diet for weight loss, they will have to start buying healthier foods for their meals. This is a great time to prepare those same meals for their kids.

Of course, you would give them a healthy portion for their age. You would also give them a healthy, complex carbohydrate option such as brown rice, whole grain pasta or baked potato without all of the fatty toppings.

You could enlist your children’s assistance as you weigh and measure your portions. They can learn the importance of portion control, how to use the food scale and how to use measuring cups and spoons. Get one of the HCG diet plan cookbooks that are available and have your kids help you to prepare the recipes.

Some kids really enjoy being in the kitchen with you while you cook. It’s a great way to spend quality time with your children while they learn from you.

Parents should be careful about the way they talk about certain foods as being “bad.” You might try describing them as not healthy choices. Children are impressionable and there is no reason for them to inherit adult hang-ups about food. If you set a healthy example for them by giving them lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, whole grains and encourage them to drink water instead of those sugary drinks, then they are more likely to continue with those healthy habits as they grow into adulthood.

Following the HCG diet is a good way to develop healthy eating habits and you can share what you are learning with your kids. Show them that healthy eating can be delicious and fun and not at all difficult.

Who knows? Maybe you will be training a budding chef who will grow up to prepare fabulously delicious, healthy meals, and never have to struggle with obesity.

Cautions About Chicken Pox in Children

Chicken pox is a serious and highly contagious disease that can occur in children and adults. Although there is a vaccine available, chickenpox still sometimes occurs in vaccinated persons. Here is some information about the causes, symptoms and treatments of chicken pox.

With Chicken Pox there are red spots and blisters, and an itchy rash all over the child’s body.  This usually causes the discomfort during this process.  The chickenpox vaccine helps prevent them, although it is still possible to get the chickenpox after getting it.  A person usually only gets the chickenpox once in their life.  It usually isn’t too serious in persons with good immune systems.  It can be more threatening in sicker individuals or persons with chronic illnesses.

Causes of Chicken Pox
The varicella-zoster virus is what causes chickenpox.  A highly contagious disease, it is easily spread in a number of ways.  One can spread the illness by coughing, sneezing, sharing your meal or drink, and by touching fluid excreted out of a chickenpox blister.  The easiest time to spread chickenpox is two to three days before it appears on the skin until the pox have all scabbed up.

]]>

Symptoms
There are many symptoms associated with the chickenpox.  The first couple noticeable symptoms are fever, sore throat, and a headache.  Also, your child might be very tired or may not eat as much, they may have a stomachache or it might seem as though they just have a normal cold.  Sometimes chickenpox occurs without any symptoms at all.  After all of the blisters have scabbed over it is safe for you child to go back to school.  This usually takes about 10 days.

Treatment
Most chickenpox treatment is done at home.  For healthy people this would include: taking baths in oatmeal to lessen itching, a lot of resting, and taking medicine prescribed by a doctor.  For unhealthy people they would need immunoglobulin treatment or antiviral medications.  The chickenpox can be harsh on pregnant women.  If there are other children in the house it is more than likely they will contract the virus too because of close contact.  Try and keep other children and adults as far away from the sick person as possible to reduce likelihood of contracting the illness.

You can prevent the chicken pox by getting the vaccine while you are a child.  It is recommended that you get two doses.  In rare cases after getting the vaccine some have still gotten the chicken pox, and some have gotten it twice.  Exposing your children to chicken pox is not the ideal thing to do.  Some parents have exposed their child to it when they were younger because they have been told it is safer to get as a child, but this is not always true.  Chickenpox in younger children has been linked to many other serious problems.

Food 101: Learning All About Healthy Eating

Article by Protica Research

We should all know about healthy eating, but you’d be surprised at how many people know almost nothing about the foods they eat. Many people think their hamburgers are healthy because they have lettuce and tomatoes on them. Sure, hamburgers might be a good source of protein, but what about all those calories and all that fat? Other people don’t understand what specific nutrients do, or why we need to have them in our diets. It’s important that everyone learn about eating healthy and which foods should be avoided, at least most of the time.

You need to have certain nutrients in your diet if you want to be healthy and strong, and without these nutrients, your health will fail. In fact, you will be risking developing many different ailments including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and others. Fortunately, there are many ways to learn about healthy eating. Start by speaking with your physician, or a dietitian or nutritionist, about the things you should be getting in your diet, and what you should be feeding your family in order to keep them healthy and happy.

Getting Your Kids To Eat Healthy Foods

For many parents, one of the biggest challenges in raising their children is getting them to eat healthy. For some reason, kids really have an aversion to anything nutritious. Maybe it is because the foods don’t look good to them. Or maybe it’s simply an act of rebellion to refuse healthy food, because they don’t want to be told what to do. Whatever the reason, many children are not getting the proper nutrition, and childhood obesity is becoming more and more of a problem all the time.

There are many ways to get your kids to eat healthy foods, without them even realizing it. Pizza is a healthy food, containing foods from all four of the important food groups, and when made right, it’s loaded with all kinds of nutritional value. You can make a homemade pizza with sauce made from fresh tomatoes in a blender, topped with lean ground meat, peppers, mushrooms, pineapples, and low-fat cheese for a very healthy meal that just about every kid (and adult) in the world will absolutely love.

Another thing to try is adding cheese to foods your kids wouldn’t normally eat. It is amazing what a little bit of cheese can do to change a kid’s mind. Or if you have a juicer, you can make slushies for your kids with delicious, healthy vegetables, which will be overpowered by the taste of fruit juice. Get creative and you can be assured that your kids will get all of the proper nutrition they need to grow up healthy.

Don’t Forget Healthy Food For Your Pets

When making sure that your family is eating healthy, don’t forget about your four-footed family members. You don’t have to give your pets commercially prepared pet foods to make sure that they are healthy. In fact, many of the commercially prepared foods are actually more harmful for your pets than the scraps you feed them from the table. Many of the foods that we eat are perfectly healthy for both dogs and cats, and there are all kinds of recipes available for healthy, homemade pet foods that Fido and Fluffy will love.

If you start them out when they are young enough, you can even have your pets on vegetarian diets, as long as you are making sure that they are getting enough protein from sources other than meat. Some healthy, protein-rich foods that you can add to your pets’ diets include lean red meat, poultry, fish, broccoli, carrots, rice, low-sodium soup broth, and some dairy products (dairy is much better for kittens than full grown cats). Garlic is also excellent for pets, and helps keep the fleas away. Never give your pets chocolate or onions, as these are poisonous for non-humans.

Getting Enough Protein In Your Diet

There are many nutrients that you need to have in your diet, and one of the most important is protein, which is a natural source of energy and helps our muscles to grow and be healthy. Protein is necessary for healing soft tissues following injuries and other trauma, and each and every cell in our bodies relies on protein to function properly.

There are all kinds of ways to get enough protein in your diet. Some of the things that you should be incorporating into your meals include lean red meats, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts and seeds, low or non-fat dairy products, fish, and poultry.

You might also want to start using protein supplements, if you aren’t doing so already. There are a number of different types of protein supplements available, including many snacks that are ideal to have between meals or to satisfy your sweet tooth without adding a whole lot of fat and calories.

Protica has many protein supplements available that are healthy for you and your whole family, even your children. If you happen to love candy, you will love the Protein Candy, or Protein Gem, a fruity, Jello-like treat that’s loaded with protein. Gum chewers will love NutriGum too. If you would like to learn more about the protein supplements available from Protica, you can find them on the Protica website at http://www.protica.com.

The Truth about Soft Toy Hygiene

The BBC Article

I recently read an article on the BBC website titled “Soft Toys Can Spread Disease”. The article relates to the recommendation by Dr Dagmar Zeuner (director of public health for NHS Hammersmith and Fulham) that:

“We do not advocate providing communal soft toys in clinical waiting areas as they give serious diseases such as measles an easy route to spread from one child to another.”

My initial thoughts were that this BBC article was trying to latch onto another example of social paranoia that was written purely for the catchy headline and inevitable panic it will cause. But when I started reading the article it made me think… soft toys in communal hospital areas? Where countless infected children may play with the soft toys and spread bacteria? It makes sense, when you think about it, that soft toys should not be the first choice for child entertainment in a hospital waiting room? Soft toys are essentially a giant sponge! If I was going to invent something which could be used to capture bacteria and transport them around, it would probably look something like a soft toy!

“Infection control in ambulatory care” by Candace Friedman

So with this in mind I dug a little deeper… I wanted to know if there was any real validity in the statements made on the BBC article. I started searching for information relating to the risks of soft toys and infections and came across this book extract on Google Books from “Infection control in ambulatory care” by Candace Friedman:

There are many concerns about the risk of cross infection from toys. Although actual incidence of disease transmission directly links to toys has been rare, it is known that microorganisms can survive for extended periods of time on environmental surfaces. After a busy morning in a physicians office, one study found that toys appeared unclean, that 10% were contaminated with pathogens, and that bacteria were cultured more frequently from soft toys than from hard toys.

So it would appear that soft toys are indeed the perfect carrier for bacteria! But why not keep toys in clean state? Surely that would make them safe for out kiddies to enjoy? The above quote goes on to say:

Another found higher contamination levels on soft toys, that neither machine washing and drying nor autoclaving were adequate to totally reduce microorganisms on soft toys and that soft toys in waiting rooms became contaminated much more quickly than hard toys.

There are many experts believe that in order to avoid allergies developing and to build up immunity; children and babies actually need to be exposed to some dirt and germs. But it stands to reason that toys in communal medical waiting room areas should be avoided by your children. They are the perfect breeding ground and transporter for infection.

In Conclusion…

The department of Health have issued guidance which covers flu pandemics, which advises that “soft toys and magazines should be removed from waiting rooms”. However, the decision on whether toys are removed rests with the individual NHS organisations. So here are a few tips which I picked up whilst doing my research:

1 Bring your own child’s toys to waiting room areas such as hospitals, schools, dentists, hair dressers etc.
2. Wipe down all toys which your child might want to play with using effective anti bacterial wipes.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask whether toys have been adequately disinfected.

What Parents Need To Know About Their Kids Nutrition Now

In this article I would like to discuss several tips, tricks, and tactics that just about any parent can use to help figure out whether or not their kid is eating as nutritiously as they should, and what they should do about it if they aren’t.

One of the biggest difficulties parents have, especially newer parents, is getting their kids to eat at all, let alone getting them to eat a nutritious diet. You would be amazed at the different extremes some children will go through to get out of eating foods they don’t like. Unfortunately nutrition is an incredibly important part of any developing child’s life and it’s not something that we can just pass off and not worry about and that is what I’d like to talk about in this article today.

Let’s start out with breakfast. What exactly can a parent do to get their kid to eat a good breakfast when the kids says they’re not hungry? The fact of the matter is that some children really aren’t hungry when they first wake up in the morning.

These kids appetites usually surface around the middle of the morning. If this describes your kid then don’t insist that they eat in the morning before they leave the house. Pack some snacks that the child can eat in the car or on the bus on the way to school. Things like granola bars or juice boxes or cheese and crackers and fruit are perfect for this sort of thing.

What about vitamins? Should children take a daily multivitamin? If your kid eats a varied diet that is already well balanced and nutritious then they definitely do not need to take a multivitamin. If on the other hand you have a stubborn child who does not eat well and won’t eat breakfast, you may consider giving them a multivitamin. At the very least, it won’t do them any harm. You should give them the vitamin either at supper or at breakfast because food will help the body to absorb vitamins better.

What should you do when your child refuses to eat vegetables? This is a tricky one and you can often substitute fruit to good effect. Also try substituting different grains for vegetables. Things like pasta or rice sometimes work better. You might also try preparing the vegetables differently. Try steaming them instead of cooking them for instance. Some children will only eat one or two different vegetables. That’s fine! Feed them that vegetable over and over again.

When you come right down to it, almost all children have a sort of internal food regulator that tells them when and what to eat. This can often be genetically programmed and really operates on a level where the kid doesn’t even realize it… subconsciously. Your childs eating habits will change over time and bad habits will disappear for the most part on their own. As long as you’re not feeding them nothing but candy all the time, you really should be okay.

There you have several tips, tricks, and techniques that you can use to make sure your child eats more nutritious foods to promote a more healthy childhood.

The Cold Hard Facts About Childhood Obesity

While childhood obesity is certainly a recognized issue in today’s society, when one takes a look at some of the cold hard facts associated with childhood obesity it is difficult not to be outwardly shocked. One of the most shocking statistics can be identified in how many children are overweight today; in the United States today, it is estimated that the number of children that are between the ages of six and eleven that are obese has tripled in the past thirty years. Per information shared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than fifteen percent of all children ages six to nineteen are presently overweight. The prevalence of obesity has also doubled in children of preschool age.

Statistics pertaining to childhood obesity differ depending upon the source. Some researchers presently estimate that there are roughly 9 million obese children in the US, all of which face obesity health related issues and complications.  According to the International Obesity TaskForce the numbers of obese children is far higher; the IOTF is a group that estimates the number of obese children to be at 155 million school-age children. The prevalence of type II Diabetes in children has increased more than 75 percent in the last twenty years, and eighty-five percent of all type II Diabetes cases are attributed to the onset of obesity. What’s more, eighty-five percent of all coronary disease is brought on by issues related to obesity. Further, as of this date, thirty percent of all Caucasian children are dealing with obesity, while thirty-five percent of Hispanic and African-American children are dealing with obesity.

As revealed in the journal Institute of Medicine in an article entitled “Preventing Childhood Obesity: Health in the Balance”, hospital costs for children that are obesity related have actually tripled in the past twenty years and have cost more than 5 million. Researchers are further attributing issues with obesity with a decrease in physical activity along with the incorporation of poor eating practices. The intake of fast food is cited as one of the significant problems in the nation which contribute to the obesity related issue; in an article appearing in the journal Pediatrics entitled “Effects of Fast-Food Consumption on Energy Intake and Diet Quality Among Children in a National Household Survey,” researchers assert that one third of American children are consuming fast food on a daily basis.

The diseases that overweight children are prone to developing later in life include cancers like endometrial cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer, coronary heart disease, dyslipidemia, abnormal menses, infertility, hypertension, liver disease, gallbladder disease, and osteoarthritis. Other issues obese children can develop include issues with respiratory functioning, sleep apnea, stroke, and type 2 Diabetes. Psychosocial risks also exist for children facing issues with obesity; overweight children are at higher risk for developing esteem issues and a lack of self esteem can lead to serious socialization issues. In addition, obesity can cause a child to suffer not only socially but academically, too.

Sleep Disorders – Something You Always Want Know About

A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a medical disorder of the sleep patterns. It’s important to understand why sleep disorder can deteriorate your health and interfere with normal physical, mental and emotional functioning as it effects your nervous system in the production of the natural hormone melatonin which is necessary for sleep and wakefulness. Polysomnography testing can help to evaluate and detect the patterns of sleep disorder.

Why sleep is so important, you might already know that a normal night of sleep is about eight hours as recommended by most doctors. Why it is important, because during sleep our bodies repair the wear ant tear of muscle tissue, consolidate memories, and release hormones to regulate our growth and appetites and enhance the immune system, etc. The effect of disorder sleep can reduce the functions of the immune system in fighting against disease and sickness.

s – The symptoms

3. Delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS)
Delayed sleep phase syndrome affects about 10% of all chronic insomnia cases. It is defined as a sleep disorder of people who have a natural inclination to go to bed later other than normal sleep routine and difficult to wake up at the desired time as it also interferes with daily activities, such as school or work, that requires to wake up earlier than would otherwise be natural, leading to sleep deprivation and other issues.

4. Hypopnea syndrome
Hypopnea Syndrome is a condition in which an individual experiences overly shallow breathing or a abnormally slow rate of airflow during sleep, leading to disruption in breathing causes lower oxygen absorption that affect the blood oxygen level that disrupts the stages of sleep. Individual with hyponea syndrome even though get full night sleep but still feels tiredness at daytime.

5. Narcolepsy
Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder caused by the brain’s inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally, causing overwhelming daytime drowsiness, leading to extreme fatigue and possibly falls asleep at inappropriate times that interferes with daily routine activities. People with narcolepsy often find it hard to stay awake for long periods of time.

14. Sleep paralysis
Sleep paralysis consists of a period of inability to perform voluntary movements either at sleep onset (called hypnogogic or predormital form) or upon awakening (called hypnopompic or postdormtal form). It can occur in healthy persons or may be associated with excessive daytime sleepiness, a sudden loss of muscle tone, etc.

18. Etc.

Causes and Risk Factors
1. Genetics
Narcolepsy is a type of neurological sleep disorder caused by a number of genetic abnormalities such as Chromosome 6 also known as the human leukocyte antigen system, inherited from parents affecting certain biologic functions in the brain, together with other environmental factors during the child early brain’s development.

2. Working the night shift
Working night shift may interfere with the brain natural production of the sleep hormone serotonin and normal functions of the inner biological clocks, leading to drowsiness. If this type of problem happened in a prolonged period of time may cause sleep disorder.

3. Medications
Certain types of medicines such as medication for high blood pressure, oral contraceptives, diet pills, anti depression, etc. and medication with with caffeine can increase the risk of sleep disorder.

4. Aging
The risk of sleep disorder increases with age as over half of adults over the age of 65 have some sort of sleep disorder.

5. Smoking
Cigarette contains high amount of nicotine, a stimulant which can cause sleep disorder as researchers found that smokers enhances daytime sleepiness more than do nonsmokers, especially in younger age groups.

6. Illegal drugs
Illegal drugs interfere natural brain normal functions in productions of certain hormones and blocks certain chemicals’ function in transporting important neural signals, leading to sleep disorder.

7. Alcohol
Although it is considered as a sedative or calming drug, but it increases the number of times a person awakens in the later half of the night, leading to lead daytime fatigue and sleepiness causing alcohol-related sleep disorders.

Improve your diet

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, the precursor to serotonin, in turn, converted to melatonin, via N-acetyltransferase and 5-hydroxyindole-O-methyltransferase activities which are necessary neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting nerve impulses in the brain and induce relaxation and natural sleep, but high levels of tryptophan can increase the risk of drowsiness and cause harmful harmful effects of the age-related increase in brain serotonin. Intake food rich of tryptophan from the food below.
a. Chicken breast and Turkey
b. Tuna
c. Soybean
d. Beef
e. Lamb
f. Halibut
g. Shrimp

High amount of simple carbohydrate over prolonged period of time can increase the risk of type II diabetes due to over work that diminishes the function of pancreas in production of insulin. It If you are any symptom of sleep disorder, eating turkey combined with complex carbohydrate rich foods would be a better choice for meat and glucose. What is your choice?
All green plants including algae contain at least one type of chlorophyll, the green pigment of plants which allows plants to absorb sun light and convert them into usable energy. Beside it is best known as oxygen uptaker to the blood, it is also important to calm the nervous system, to induce sleep due to rich amount of magnesium.
a. All dark green plants( Roman lettuce is the best choice)

Improve your Lifestyle
1. Cut down intake of alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine
Alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine are stimulant, some may have health benefits for the short time, but prolonged of period of using them can cause tension of nervous system, affecting the brain in transmitting information between nerve cells and cells in other parts of the body, causing many kinds of disorder, including sleep disorder.

2. Artificial ingredients
Artificial ingredients are man made chemical compounds which have been proven to be harmful to our health and sleep, if eating in measure amounts. Drinking water will keep the body hydrated, dilute toxins concentration and eliminate toxins. Always wash your fruit and vegetables in cold water before eating to prevent pesticides.

3. Toxins induced sleep disorder
Heavy metals and toxic chemicals in the blood can cause sleep disorder. Exposure to heavy metals and toxic chemicals over a prolonged periods of time also interrupt the normal function of brain in production of hormones and damage to the body organs, leading to diseases, including hormone imbalance and sleep disorder.

4. Improve sleep
There are some steps which you can do to improve healthy sleep and prevent to become a victim of sleep disorder. Researcher found that a good night’s sleep not only boosts the immune system in fighting against foreign invasion but also repairs all tear and wear of the body after daily activity in previous day and restore energy and keep you functioning during times when sleep is limited.

5. Eating healthy foods
Eating some kinds of healthy food above enhances the production of serotonin which induces sleep and protects us against the accumulation of toxins by promoting the immune system to cope with today out of our controllable environment hazard.

6. Exercise
Exercise not only improves blood circulation and enhance body movement but also help to cleanse our body organs by eliminating toxins from the blood and lymph system.

The Untold Truth About Health Care System of Bangladesh

On the basis of using the advanced facilities the treatment costs should be higher than usual in the private hospitals. It takes a few solid grants to be able to buy one of those latest medicinal equipment and their accessories. And certainly quite a lot is being spent on training the relevant bodies, i.e. the doctors and the nurses, on how to use those structures with perfection. Besides them, the costs of the medications, the mobility service, maintenance and other relevant taxes must be paid which add to a huge amount. So where do those money come from? The government is not paying the private hospitals, nor is the public aiding money to keep the service on-going.

Well this is where the upper community steps in. They do afford to pay for those tremendous services and their treatment. So they are highly facilitated in terms of the health care. However, what would be the proportion of the superiority i.e. the ones who can afford them and the inferiority i.e. the ones that cannot? Well certainly the latter would number the most.

A massive proportion of our country is poor or lower middleclass. According to The World Bank, more than 60% people (80 million) have no access to modern health services other than immunisation and family planning (BBC Feb 2000).  Being the most important mandatory needs of human life, it is lacking greatly in other cities and rural areas than Dhaka. A lot of deaths of women are caused during and after child birth due to malnutrition. Even those multivitamin tablets are out of reach in terms of the expenses, which could really have reduced this serious issue. Some people do travel from outside cities to get to The Government Medical College Hospitals in cities in order to get a better treatment and on time. Unfortunately, most of them are seen lying on the floor of the little corridor where doctors rarely walk through, therefore they are not noticed sincerely until they reach their last few breaths. I wonder if the authority sometimes is involved in the “classification” business of patients according to their social status or it’s just their lack of awareness and sincerity, or it’s the government’s intervention which really is unnoticeable.

Well let’s now move into the service quality that we have in our hospitals. We do have all the facilities to provide the effective service and there is no doubt about that. I personally would rank them (top hospitals) 7 out of 10. However, some do lack in it. They can be called “minority” but still can be fatal for a patient. A blood sample of one group was about to be given into a patient with a different blood group. Another blood sample was given into the same recovering patient that contained Hepatitis C virus; in one of the top hospitals in Dhakaand I am not going to mention the name of it. This is just an example from my personal life experience but there are thousands out there. And that is just a scenario in one of the most expensive hospitals, and I wonder how it is like to be in the ones which the lower middle class can afford. Well how many of them are compensated for being treated in a way that disabled their lifestyle forever? I guess none.

I believe it is not just the internal health services, our pharmaceutical productivity and quality is also downstream. It would be pretty hard for me to recognise which is the legal and appropriate medication if I was living in small cities or villages. Well I am definitely not blaming all the companies but the illegal ones who “want” to save lives for money, i.e. for business purposes. So many illegal and unregistered pharmaceutical companies with unhygienic environment and cheap, old machineries have been growing up for the last few years in areas that are little noticed and cared by the powerhouse. They do not even have a qualified pharmacist but still they carry on making drugs for people. A little difference in the percentage of required element in a drug can cause a devastated outcome in the locals, e.g. death of around 30 children suffering from diarrhoea, which was a headline of newspapers a few months ago. A lot of those businesses have been recognised and shut down “officially” but I think a vast majority of people in those areas have already undertaken those illegal and rather harmful drugs already, which will have serious consequences in the long term.

I must tell you this story of a little girl who loses both her legs instead of the one which was actually meant to be removed by the appointed “experienced” doctor. His absence on the particular date led a younger doctor to carry out with the procedure of checking the right papers and then the surgery. Well, he did do the surgery but the procedure went wrong leaving the girl with the damaged leg and that was taken off too straight after so that she could at least survive. And the compensation or the punishment for his lack of awareness and for immobilising her forever was just a “sorry” to the ruined family. If this incidence was to happen in the West, the doctor would spend the rest of his life in jail and the compensation would have been almost a million pounds (£) or dollars ($ ). Well, humans do make mistakes and in most of the cases they are forgiven.

We hear or may not hear a lot of these untold stories that change peoples lives. A medical team after undertaking a surgery comes out of the operation theatre smiling at the patient’s relatives thinking they are successful and not knowing that they left a scalpel or a forceps inside that patient’s abdomen. The consequences would be fatal injuries and infections in the abdominal region which can lead to death unless it is taken out immediately. Quite often patients are prescribed medications based upon the faulty test results that they get in the hospitals, both private and public. A pregnant woman was told she had high cholesterol and diabetes and was prescribed accordingly. Lucky she was to get tested again in another place where she found out she was totally normal. So what would have happened to that unborn baby if she had taken those medications? They did apologise to her when they heard she is from DhakaUniversityand told her that they would have taken more care while testing her blood if they knew where she came from, from the very beginning, which does ring a bell of “social classification”. And the patient is no-one else but my own Mother.

It would be wrong not to mention the fact that, we do know generally that services and medications at public/government hospitals are free. Well in some cases the services might be given for free but the “free-giving medication” process is an impossible, and I spoke to many people about it that faced and still face the existence of this crime-like practice in many public hospitals around Bangladesh.

Apart from the lack of sincerity in our health care team, we do have a huge issue that take part in a lot of delays in treatment. Our traffic system contributes a lot to this, in my view. I believe hardly any patient reaches hospitals on time if taken on any type of vehicle due to the traffic. Even though they turn on the sirens, no one is ready to give a little space to that ambulance. Well it becomes quite impossible to move a yard since all the vehicles remain packed for a long time on the same road-space. Who should we blame for this- the tycoons for having more than one car on the road; the government for not widening the emergency roads; the traffic police for not being able to make the cars move so that the ambulance can pass through? Surely it is the whole system that integrates into a chaos resulting in worst conditions of the patients, most probably death.

In my opinion every single citizen of Bangladeshmust equally be eligible to the essential health care service in every corner of cities or villages, since this is the most important and prioritised basic need. And to ensure this our government should take a huge step forward to building up hygiene and affordable medical centres in and around with a better transportation and communication system enhancing the mobility of patients and important medications, which must be free for people of certain age range and disability, i.e. under 18, over 60, people with physical disability that detaches them from work etc. Well, of course the government and the bountiful bunch of people of our country should also notice the quality of services of the existing government hospitals that they are really at the same standard as the private hospitals, because “we may play with our money but not human lives”.

Learning About Child Safety Products

Child safety products are essential in every home to ensure that the children that live there are safe and secure. Child safety is a very important issue that all parents and careers need to fully understand when they have children. Having the correct safety measures in place in the home will not only ensure that the children are safe, but can prevent accidents happening.  With the right amount of research parents can find out the recommended safety equipment to have, and where to purchase them.

There are plenty of different options for parents to decide on, and the quantity of safety products that are bought is often due to the needs and budget of the parents.  There are different child safety products for every room in the home. Child safety has become a huge business, and many different companies are taking the stress out of deciding which products to buy. Some companies are even supplying gift baskets with a selection of different products included.

These are designed to help new parents make their home safer.  They will often include door and cupboard locks and latches, corner crib guards and thermometers for the bath.  The amount of child safety products available is massive, and new parents may be overwhelmed by them all.  It is better to have more products than not enough to ensure that every element of the home has child safety in mind. Although these products are great they do not replace common sense, and every parent needs to display a level of self monitoring.

The child safety products are designed to assist the parents, and not to replace them as the guardian of the child.  Baby gates are one of the most useful pieces of child safety equipment that parents can buy.  Not only do they stop toddlers going up stairs, but they can also be used to stop children from entering certain rooms.  Animals can also be shut in kitchens and utility areas allowing the baby to crawl around in safety.  Another very important feature is socket covers as children’s fingers are very small and they love putting them where they shouldn’t.

Kitchens are very dangerous places for children, and this room should have the most child safety products fitted. Cupboards should have latches on, ovens and hobs should have guards, and overall there should be a baby gate. If everything is safe and secure when parents are in the kitchen the children can play safely with no worry of accidents or injury. Children will always get into things they shouldn’t do, and having the right child safety products will help to protect them from serious injury.

Educating the children as to the palaces that are safe to play, and areas that are unsafe is very important.  As they grow they will begin to understand the dangers that surround them even at home. Child safety does get easier as the children are growing; the older they are the more they fully understand how their actions can be dangerous. Until they are at that age child safety products give parents peace of mind and comfort knowing they have some assistance in the area of safety.
